A Chinese armorial teabowl and saucer c.1772, and a similar Samson coffee can and saucer, decorated with the arms of Leveson-Gower impaling Stewart, 12.4cm. (4) Provenance: Frederick Arthur Crisp collection. Puttick and Simpson, 8th March 1923, lot 209. J & E D Vandekar, 1978. The Clifford Henderson collection. This service was made for Granville Leveson-Gower, a British politician and the 1st Marquess of Stafford. This family were one of the greatest landowners in the UK, at one time owning over a million acres.
