Description

A late 18th century Italian walnut, rosewood and fruitwood marquetry neo-classical commode, the quarter veneered and crossbanded top centred a navette shape cartouche with a male bust, above three lipped crossbanded long drawers fitted replaced brass handles, inlaid bands of flowers and berries, with birds and serpents amongst scrolling foliage, the deep central drawer centred a fan patera with a male mask, flanked by grotesque pilaster panels, the panelled sides with conforming decoration, on square tapering legs inlaid bell flowers, 34.75in (87.8cm) h, 48.5in (123.2cm) w, 23.25in (59cm) d. Restoration and replacements.
