Description
A late 18th century Italian walnut, rosewood and fruitwood marquetry neo-classical commode, the quarter veneered and crossbanded top centred a navette shape cartouche with a male bust, above three lipped crossbanded long drawers fitted replaced brass handles, inlaid bands of flowers and berries, with birds and serpents amongst scrolling foliage, the deep central drawer centred a fan patera with a male mask, flanked by grotesque pilaster panels, the panelled sides with conforming decoration, on square tapering legs inlaid bell flowers, 34.75in (87.8cm) h, 48.5in (123.2cm) w, 23.25in (59cm) d.
