A George III vase shaped cup and cover, with loop handles, and a part-fluted lower body, each side with an applied oval floral cartouche; one inscribed 'J. Harrop printer of the Manchester Mercury 1777' the other inscribed 'The gift of his friends, as an acknowledgment of the service he has done by his early intelligence', spool shaped cover, acorn finial & gilt interior, by J. Wakelin & W. Taylor, London 1777, 14.9in (37.8cm)high, approx 66oz.
