An early 19th century Russian snuff box, modelled as a large slumbering dog, with a collar and his tail curled over his back, hinged flat cover and gilt interior, by an unknown maker M D (Cyrillic's), Moscow, 1820-1830, date mark partially worn, 2.4in (6.3cm), 1.4oz.
