A rare Chinese blue and white stem bowl six character Xuande mark but second half 16th century, the exterior decorated with figures in a garden in pleasurable pursuits beneath bamboo, the flared stem painted with flowers, the interior with a seated sage, small rim faults, 11cm. Provenance: Sir Harry and Lady Garner. Exhibited: The Oriental Ceramic Society, Chinese Blue and White Porcelain, December 1953 to January 1954, no.200.
