Description
George III, Pattern or Trial Striking of the Crown, 1818, by Benedetto Pistrucci, Obverse, the image and legend retrograde, laureate bust as currency type, toothed border, plain edge, struck without a collar on 5mm thick spreading flan, 44mm (cf Selig [Spink 131, 2 March, 1999] 1207). Some scuffmarks and scratches, but very fine and seemingly struck from a polished die.
