Description
Four delftware tiles 1st half 18th century, probably Liverpool, each painted in blue with a shepherd and his dog before boats in an estuary, reserved on a sponged manganese ground, with blue dandelion corner roundels, framed, the tiles 12.5cm.
Cf. Anthony Ray, English Delftware Tiles, p.133, no.118 for an identical tile. The dandelion corner roundels appear to be characteristic of Liverpool.
