Description
A Chinese armorial mug c.1755, painted with the arms of Doore or Dore, painted with three butterflies or gadflies on a red and blue shield within a rococo cartouche of leaves and flowers, spearhead border, a 3cm rim chip and associated crack, 15.2cm high.
The Doore family are believed to have originated from Devon and Cornwall. This is from the second service of Chinese porcelain commissioned for the family.
