Description

A fine Chinese white jade model of two Mandarin ducks 18th or 19th century, huddled together and sitting on a large lotus leaf, one with a lotus in its beak, 5.6cm. Mandarin ducks together with lotus signify the wish for a harmonious marriage. The lotus is the only flower to bloom with a seedpod already in place, standing for the early arrival of sons, thus together they symbolise the wish for a harmonious marriage and the birth of illustrious sons.
