A carved coconut 'bugbear' flask, finely carved in relief with two scenes of a soldier with possibly Saint Nicholas about to board a boat and then the soldier saved from the sinking boat by Nicholas and returning to three ladies, framed by leaf and serpent scrolls, the end carved a grotesque mask, eyes lacking, 18th century, 7in (17.7cm) l.
