An early 17th century Italian gilt metal and lapis lazuli casket, the hinged lid with leaf appliques and two rectangular panels engraved with grotesques, to a plush lined interior, above corner pilasters with mask capitals and decorated with husks, the reverse with a false escutcheon plate, possibly Rome, 3.25in (8.2cm) h, 6.75in (16.8cm) w, 4.5in (11.3cm) d.
