A Chinese Export carved ivory figural chess set, natural and stained red, the white king and queen modelled as European monarchs, the opposing pieces as the Chinese Emperor and Empress, all raised on a puzzle ball base, 2nd half 19th century, the king: 6.5in (16cm) h, the pawn: 3in (7.3cm) h.
