A George II Scottish 'upright' snuff box, of shaped oval outline with chased reserves of shells and scrolls, the base inscribed "John Ferguson Tobacconist Montrose", gilt interior, maker's mark only 'I & R' (possibly altered from a Lothian & Robertson mark), 1750/1760, 2in (5cm) high, 2.75oz.
