Description

A large Chinese celadon jade carving of a peach 18th/19th century, growing form a gnarled leafy branch, and with two small bats clambering upon the surface, the stone flecked with russet markings, with a hardwood stand, 13.5cm across. (2)

Provenance: an English private collection, Surrey.

The bat and the peach depicted together, fu shou, are representative of longevity and blessings.
