A George II silver sugar box and matching pair tea caddies,
by William Grundy, London 1744,
the sugar box of oblong bellied form, embossed foliate decoration on a matted background, domed pull-off cover with a cone finial, on a shaped oval base, with two vacant cartouches, the caddies of oval waisted form, with similar decoration and cone finials, with two vacant cartouches, length of sugar box 12.5cm, height of caddy 13.5cm, approx. weight 39oz.
