Evening's Rest, Town Quay, Portsmouth
Signed with a monogram and dated 1880, also signed and inscribed on an old label verso Evening's Rest' After the day's work the old man smoking in the barge is the key to the sentiment of picture, Rest and quietness. Town Quay Portsmouth, Old Custom House on the left, John Pound's memorial in the centre, Time by town clock - about five.
