Description

A Fabergé gold and gem set enamel miniature frame. Workmaster Viktor Aarne, St Petersburg. The oval glazed centre contains a photograph within a seed pearl border and green guilloche enamel ground. The white and gold enamel surround with cabochon red stones set to the extended terminals (one missing) and wrapped in three colour gold floral swags. Silver scroll hinged strut to the mother of pearl back. 4.9cm high (including terminals).
Marks: the frame base signed Fabergé in cyrillic. BA. Kokoshnik with 56 and an alpha. The silver strut, 88 and BA. Scratched inventory numbers, 7794, and probably 6839 and 5161 (both cancelled with a scratch).
