Description

A Longton Hall teabowl c.1756-58, decorated in the Castle Painter style with a turreted building beside a river, a church in the near distance, the interior with a single blue flowerhead, brown line rim, 7.8cm dia.

While John Hayfield is often the name put forward as the identity of the Castle Painter, the style is actually known to have been executed by several hands.
