Description

A Chinese Imperial hardwood rectangular stand Qianlong 1736-95, the rectangular top set with a zitan panel, the border inlaid with silver wire above a reticulated frieze decorated with stylized scrolling chilongs, the apron applied with four carved bats and the legs with tassels suspended from eight mythical beasts, the acanthus-capped feet joined by a rectangular platform, itself with four leaf-carved bracket feet, 92.5cm x 50cm x 42.5cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988). Purchased from Kaneko's Art Studio, Yokohama, Japan, 26th April 1940, for £120. The original invoice is available.
