Description

A Wayte & Ridge comical Toby jug c.1864, modelled as a Prussian soldier in blue and orange uniform, wedged into a wooden barrel and pulling a face of frustration and disgust, his tongue protruding, the handle formed from his plaited hair, impressed W&R mark, some restoration to his hat, 34cm.

Provenance: the Colin Russell Collection. Previously in the Les Steer Collection.
