Catalogue Notes
The Gilbert & Sulivan Opera Pineapple Poll was performed at Sadler's Wells on March 13th 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations. The original gouache on paper design for Scene III H.M.S Hot Cross Bun is held in the Victoria & Albert museum archive. The opening scene is illustrated with the Portsmouth girls swooning at the sight of the gallant captain of H.M.S Hot Cross Bun, Dance and Dancers May 1951.
