Prince Charles, Installation as a Knight of the Garter, silver medal, 1638, by Nicholas Briot, half-length bust of the Prince three-quarters right, wearing plumed hat, Garter robes and George suspended from chain, CAROLVS PRIN MA BR NOBMI ORD GART MILES 22 MAY 1638, rev., Prince's plumes and motto, C P to either side, all within Garter, MAGNI SPES MAGNA PARENTIS, 26.5mm (MI 281/87; Eim. 132; BMC [Jones] 171; Platt, type A, p.144). Good very fine, toned and very rare.
