The Kakiemon style of decoration on the Japanese salt is thought to have been the influence on blanc de Chine pieces such as the decorated beaker in this lot. Cf. European Decoration on Oriental Porcelain, pp.210-211 for similar examples and a discussion of this type of decoration, which was re-attributed from Dutch to English by Errol Manners in the Transactions of the English Ceramic Circle, Vol. 19, Part I, 2005.
