Various Chinese porcelains decorated with the Stag Hunt pattern 18th century, some with original Chinese decoration of bianco-sopra-bianco flowers, anhua bands and underglaze blue landscapes, most later-decorated in England with the typical Stag Hunt design of two leaping deer chased by a hunter, and two Chinese figures in conversation beside rocks and pine. Comprising: a teapot and cover, a saucer dish, two bowls, two teapot stands, three teabowls, four coffee cups and a saucer, 20.5cm max. (15)
Provenance: the Helen Espir Collection, nos. 352, 493, 494, 506, 606, 622, 736, 737, 738, 843, 849, 878 and 928.
Illustrated: Stephen Hanscombe, The Early James Giles and his Contemporary London Decorators, p.59, no.31 for the saucer dish.
