Description

A gem-set silver choker necklace by Sah Oved circa 1935, comprising eight ball-shaped sections applied with stylised acorn-shaped cabochon sapphires. Joined with curved and hollow tubular links with lines of cabochon rubies to the terminals. Unsigned. 39cm (internal circumference). In an oval wooden box with padded lining and label to the cover marked Mosheh Oved and Sah Oved to the interior.

Sah Oved, born Gwendolyn Ethel Rendle, (1900 - 1983) served her apprenticeship with the Arts and Crafts jeweller John Paul Cooper until 1923 when she met her partner Mosheh Oved who owned the Bloomsbury antique shop Cameo Corner.
