Description
A Staffordshire pearlware ale bench group, with a woman bringing more beer to her drunken companion as he collapses to the floor, the table base titled 'ale bench'. Some restoration. c.1830, 18cm. Wide. Cf. P Halfpenny, English Earthenware Figures, p.266, for another example but illustrating the scene before he falls to the floor.
