A documentary Yorkshire slipware puzzle jug dated 1817, decorated in a rich treacle glaze with a three line verse in cream slip, inscribed with the name 'W W Gargrave', the neck pierced with a geometric design, some damages, 16cm.
Gargrave is a village in North Yorkshire, not far from Skipton. It is possible that the name on this jug relates to that place, but it is also a known surname in Yorkshire so may relate to a person.
