Frederick W. Pomeroy (1856-1924). A late Victorian bronze relief double portrait rondel, of J. D. Sedding and his wife Rose, , 15.7cm diameter, and a gilt bronze relief portrait bust of Zavier Sigaloni by Preault, signed and dated 'AUG 1830', with suspension ring, 16.7cm diameter. (2)
Provenance: the collection of Ralph Holland (1917-2012), art historian.
John Dando Sedding (1838-1891) was an English Church Architect and an influential figure of the Arts and Crafts movement. He and his wife Rose died withing a few weeks of each other in 1891. The original memorial by Harry Wilson and Pomeroy was in St. Andrew's
Holborn. The church was largely detroyed in the Second World War.
