A VERY LARGE CHINESE CAMPHOR WOOD CHEST

19TH CENTURY

Of rectangular form with two loose ring handles to each end, the base with a frieze carved in relief with two dragons amongst scrolls, the hinged cover with a circular panel, inscribed with a shou character and secured with a ruyi-shaped fitting, all mounted on rollers, 89.6cm x 69.5cm x 162.5cm. (2)

Provenance: property of a Lady of title, Kent, UK. Acquired in Beijing in the 1960s.
