λ A FINE JAPANESE SHIBAYAMA SILVER AND GOLD LACQUER KODANSU

MEIJI 1868-1912

The rectangular table cabinet with simulated bamboo borders framing a dense background of flowers, with variously shaped panels lacquered and inlaid with sprays of seasonal flowers and birds in ivory, mother of pearl, coral and tortoiseshell, the interior fitted with four drawers decorated in lacquer with flowers, foliage and stylised waves, each with a swing handle, unsigned, together with a hardwood stand, the cabinet 22.3cm x 17.7cm x 23.7cm.
