Description

A JAPANESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL TRAY BY NAMIKAWA SOSUKE
MEIJI 1868-1912
Of rectangular form, decorated with two sparrows perched on a flowering prunus branch on a blue-grey ground, the details in yusen and musen cloisonné enamels, the rim in shakudo, the reverse with grey-brown plum blossoms, the base with the Sakigake seal of Namikawa Sosuke (1847-1910), 20cm.
Although this composition is unsigned, it is probably based on a kacho-ga design by an artist of the Shijo School such as Watanabe Seitei.
