A Victorian officer's dress sword by E. Thurkle, Soho London, with a 83.5cm long steel fullered blade, etched VR crowned cypher, a seated talbot crest with motto Virtuti Nihil Obstat et Armis and monogram FMM, with a gilt brass guard and sharkskin grip with scabbard, and a presentation sword, the blade etched with same crest and monogram and PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN F.M.METCALFE by the MEMBERS of the 2nd ? RIFFLE VOLUNTEERS.... May 1878., the guard with pierced foliage decoration and two trumpeting maidens flanking a crested monogram, with scabbard. (2)
