Description
A French early 20th century diamond tiara converting to a necklace, centred with two larger circular transitional-cut diamonds. The foliate scrolling openwork gold and silver mount set overall with graduated circular-cut diamonds. With gold knife edge back section set with circular-cut diamonds to each joint. French control mark to the clasp tongue and unidentified maker's lozenge stamped GR. With two tiara frames, an additional diamond-set silver and gold scroll section to be mounted on one of the two horn combs and a gold brooch mount. With two screw drivers. The main section 12cm wide. The necklace 38cm long. Fitted dark blue leather case and applied with foliate scroll decorated silver initials.
The Art Nouveau influence is clearly evident in the design of this tiara and there is a similarity in form to the more substantial tiara made for Princess Abamelek by Boucheron in 1907.
