MEIJI 1868-1912

Depicting a tanuki (Japanese raccoon) wearing flowing robes and carrying a large mokugyo on its back, the bell with a lotus flower mon, its head turned to dexter and bearing its teeth, its right forepaw resting on a drumstick, the base with a two character signature possibly for Shigeyasu, 8.5cm.
