A CHINESE LACQUER AND MOTHER OF PEARL RECTANGULAR BOX

19TH CENTURY

The hinged cover with a silver metal butterfly-shaped fitting, a loose ring handle to each end, inlaid with mother of pearl, the top depicting a scholar at a table beneath a maple tree, with a pair of geese on the water, the sides with fruiting and flowering branches, 17.6cm x 18.5cm.
