A CHINESE WHITE GLASS PENDANT

20TH CENTURY

Carved as two lotus leaves, a silk cord for suspension, together with a collection of ninety-one unstrung amber beads, the pendant 6cm, the beads 106g. (92)

Provenance: from the collection of John Shaw (d.1947), and thence by descent. After finishing his service in the Royal Marines in 1903, John Shaw joined the Municipal Police in Shanghai where he spent twenty-five years, eventually reaching the rank of Chief Inspector.
