Description
An early Martin Brothers stoneware spoon warmer by Robert Wallace Martin, dated 1879, the ovoid body with large gaping mouth, carved snout and eyes, painted blue and brown detailing, its tail rolled back to form a loop handle, incised R W Martin London & Southall 79 14.5cm. high
Provenance
Private collection, it is believed by the family that the grotesque was purchased directly from the Martin Brothers.
