The work was reproduced in the publication of c.1919 Deeds that thrill the Empire: True Stories of the Most Glorious Acts of Heroism of the Empire's Soldiers and Sailors during the Great War. Although Dovaston is better known for her paintings of historical English interior scenes, she was a respected war artist in WW1
