λ A George III mahogany gentleman's dressing table by Gillows of Lancaster, inlaid with boxwood edging, the hinged top revealing a compartmented interior with a pull-up easel back mirror flanked by a pair of lidded compartments one with a comb tray, the other for powder, with two wash bowl apertures and further divisions for glass bottles and two tumblers, with ivory handles, the front with three false drawer fronts above a central deep drawer with a basin aperture flanked by two drawers either side, two with divisions one for razor blades and one for combs, one stamped 'GILLOWS LANCASTER', fitted with original leaf and flower cast brass handles, on square tapering legs and brass caps and castors, 83.9cm high, 78.8cm wide, 50cm deep.

The design for an identical piece that was made in 1798 for Sir William Milner of Nun Appleton Hall in Yorkshire is preserved in the Gillow archive in Westminster.
