A Victorian presentation regimental silver ewer,
by Hunt and Roskell, London 1874,
slender vase form, angular handle, on a raised circular base, engraved with the badge of the 65th (2nd Yorkshire, North Riding) Regiment of Foot, and 'From Lt Colonel F.S. Herries to his Brother Officers on his Retirement on Full Pay, May 1876, in Remembrance of 25 Happy Years passed in the 65th Regiment, and also with a partially worn inscription 'with their tails up on high and their claws....', height 29cm, approx. weight 23.5oz.
