λ A George III satinwood secretaire bookcase in the manner of Mayhew & Ince, with amaranth and rosewood banding and stringing, the later swan neck carved cornice centred with a flaming urn with leaf scrolls and paterae above a Greek key and pendant frieze and a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing two shelves, the base with a deep secretaire drawer the front simulating two drawers, with a later leather lined writing surface and an arrangement of pigeon holes and drawers with ivory handles, above three long drawers and swept French bracket feet, 262cm high, 115.4cm wide, 57.3cm deep.

Provenance: By family tradition acquired from Apter Fredericks, London in the late 1960s by Mrs Dorothy Francis at 'Avalon', Shepton Mallet. Thence by descent at Ray Mill House, Chippenham, Wiltshire, 1975-1995, after which with the same owner at his current address.
