Description
A Russian two-colour gold cigarette case, the strips of finely fluted pink gold extend over the entire exterior and are separated with plain yellow gold bands. The colour pattern extends to the polished interior. Cabochon sapphire thumbpiece. Engraved inside the lid 'Ursula 28.3.1940'.
The base stamped with maker's mark АЛ, kokoshnik and 56 zolotnik with á for the St Petersburg region. Maker's mark and kokoshnik repeated to the inside cover. 10cm wide
Provenance: Property of the Earl of Chichester.
Ursula was the current Earl of Chichester's mother, Ursula von Pannwitz, and married the 8th Earl of Chichester in 1940.
