A CHINESE LADY'S SILK TUNIC AND SKIRT

19TH CENTURY

The tunic embroidered with four-clawed dragons, birds, bats and cloud scrolls, and with rank badges in gold thread and coral depicting silver pheasants (for a fifth rank civil official), the skirt in the form of a pair of aprons, embroidered with five-clawed dragons and phoenix, 108cm high max.

Provenance: from the collection of Dr Richard Wolfendale L.R.C.P. and S. (Edin.)(1866-1921), and thence by family descent.
