Description

A PAIR OF CHINESE HUANGHUALI HORSESHOE-BACKED ARMCHAIRS, QUANYI

QING DYNASTY

Each with a curved toprail terminating in an outward-turning serpentine hook to each side and supported by shaped spandrels, mounted with six silver metal supports decorated with scrolls, the central splat with a ruyi-shaped cartouche carved in shallow relief with two sinuous dragons, the rectangular frame with a woven mat seat, the legs joined by stepped stretchers and an arching apron embellished with intertwining leaf scrolls, 100cm x 61.8cm x 47cm.
