TWO CHINESE JADE RUYI SCEPTRES

LATE QING DYNASTY

One carved in shallow relief with lotus flowers and leaves, the stone mottled spinach-green and cream, the other celadon jade, naturalistically carved with bamboo and lingzhi fungus to the shaft and head, each with a brightly-coloured silk tassel, 39.5cm. (2)

Provenance: the Benveniste collection, Montreal. Purchased in the 1960s and '70s.
