A LARGE AND RARE CHINESE TURQUOISE GLAZED WATER POT, ZHADOU
KANGXI 1662-1722
The ovoid body with a scalloped rim, together with a pair of reticulated square-section bitongs, decorated with peony, lotus, chrysanthemum and prunus to each face, an ovoid vase, incised with scrolling peony blooms, and a pair of flared bowls, all decorated with a bright turquoise glaze, the bitongs each with a hardwood stand, 21.3cm. (8)
Provenance: a European private collection, acquired 1965-85.
