A MASSIVE CHINESE ARCHAISTIC BLUE AND WHITE OVOID VASE

QIANLONG 1736-95

Painted to the exterior with stylized dragons and taotie panels reserved on dense geometric grounds, the flaring neck with a band of stiff leaves mirrored at the foot, the body with raised concentric double bands containing key fret, the shoulder with ring handles surmounted by mythical creatures masks, raised on an intricately-tiered reticulated zitan and hardwood five-legged stand, carved with bands of the Three Friends of Winter divided by foliage and C-scrolls, and further taotie masks, 36.2cm, 51cm overall.
