TWO JAPANESE ARITA U-SHAPED CUPS AND SAUCERS FROM THE COLLECTION OF AUGUSTUS THE STRONG
18TH CENTURY
Painted with panels formed as chrysanthemum petals and with iron-red and gilt flower sprays, each inscribed to the base with Johanneum marks 'N:33รค', paper labels for the Oriental Ceramic Society 1956 exhibition, nos.243 and 145, and for Spink & Son Ltd., 15.3cm. (4)
Provenance: from an English private collection. Formerly in the collection of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
