Description
An early 19th century Scandinavian painted pine marriage chest, the domed lid painted with panels of flowers, the underside with strapwork hinges and painted with scrolling leaves and flowers, the interior with an open candle compartment and with a drawer, the front with a further a floral panel with an iron escutcheon flanked by oval panels painted with crowns and inscribed 'Christi Ols Pattir Orsund 1819 Fod Din 1ste October Mar 1802', with side carrying handles, 66.5 cm high, 122.5cm wide, 61.5cm deep.
