A Yanzi standing figure
Democratic Republic of Congo
wood, with a hair knot, coffee bean eyes, a prominent beard and nose with linear face scarifications, with remains of charge to the abdomen and dark staining.
18.5cm high, on a stand. (2)
Provenance
Old Belgium collection. Collected before 1950.
Yanzi figures show similarities to neighbouring groups. Often they are Teke like but more angular and elongated.
